PDT Clinic

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a minimally invasive treatment that uses a combination of light-sensitive compounds, known as photosensitizers, and specific wavelengths of light to target and eliminate pathogens or diseased tissues. The process begins with the application of a photosensitizer, such as aminolevulinic acid (ALA) or its derivatives, to the affected area. The photosensitizer preferentially accumulates in the diseased cells and infected tissue due to their distinct metabolic activity. Following a specified incubation period (2-3 hours), the area is exposed to a light source emitting wavelengths that match the absorption spectrum of the photosensitizer.
