Medical Physics Division

Medical Physics Department plays an integral role in supporting clinical services through its scientific, technical & educational expertise. The department offering distinguished radiation therapy services such as External Beam Radiation Therapy including 3D Conformal Radiotherapy & Intensity Modulated Radiation

Therapy (IMRT) & High Dose Rate (HDR) Brachytherapy. The department is also responsible for the safe use of radiation for patients & staff, and the calibration of radiation producing equipments. Medical Physics Department at IRNUM Hospital consists of around 30 staff members including Clinical Scientists and Technologists.

The Department is equipped with 02 Linear Accelerators, 02 Cobalt-60 Teletherapy Units, Computerized Treatment Planning System, CT Simulator, HDR Brachytherapy afterloading system for the treatment of various cancers. Diagnostic X-ray & Conventional Simulator is available for the localization of tumors.

Techniques: The Radiotherapy techniques used at IRNUM include • 3D Conformal Radiation Therapy • Electron Therapy for skin cancers. • Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) • Brachytherapy for gynaecological and skin cancers
